Close Encounters

Anyone who knows me knows I am a space and sci-fi fan. And "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is one of my favorite films.

Just like Roy, the main character, I was drawn to drive cross country to visit this lonely, majestic butte. Heading from DC to Colorado, we detoured to eastern Wyoming and caught sunrise in a large field above Bear Lodge.

It was a perfect morning. Just as the light starting painting the north face, three deer started grazing by the solo tree below the ridge.
