Winning work of the London Art Biennale 2019 in the category "Work on Paper"
Monumental work in detail and fantasy of almost two meters by two meters that illustrates and invites us to visit an imagined city full of madness and magical corners. Full of architectural references and an infinity of iconography of the artist's life and passions, whether culinary, visual, nostalgic or directly personalistic pop culture, this work contains and hides one more secret, the multitude of billboards with a message that is repeated as a slogan infinite. "Nuevo" New in English. The artist proposes a reflection on the use of this word in an incessant, exhausting way, announcing an infinity of products and new things that are nothing more than something rehashed, something inauthentic, something that does not arrive. The artist summarizes all the advertising that adorns our cities in one word. "Nuevo" and dress multiple corners of the city with it.
This work represents a milestone in the artist's career. First large-format work that would start a collection that is currently in five major works in ink, this being the inaugural jewel and deserving of an award. It is a work that summarizes the entire proposal of the artist who would later come to life in the form of Visual Toys. This work is a cornerstone in Javier Arrés' career.
Work in Chinese ink on digitized watercolor paper. Exhibited at the Heroes Comic Con in Madrid and later at the Chelsea Old Town Hall in London. Also included in catalog.
