This work depicts an iconic machine from popular culture subjected to a process of glitch and ritual combustion, recalling the New Year effigy tradition in which a figure is burned to mark the closure of a cycle. The technological body, instantly recognizable yet fractured, stands suspended between an idealized sky and a symbolic fire that consumes both its form and its promise of futurity.
Here, the glitch functions as a rupture in collective memory: the image breaks down in the same way technological utopias age, loop, and are ultimately discarded. Fire does not operate as pure destruction but as a ceremonial gesture of release, transforming an industrial icon into an offering. Hovering between celebration and collapse, the piece signals the end of an era of naive faith in the machine, while opening a question about what emotional, cultural, or digital remnants persist after obsolescence.
bye bye 2025
