BURN TOKEN
This is an experiment, in much the same way my time in the NFT space has been...
On May 19th 2022 it will be 1 year since I first minted on the now defunct hicetnunc. Hicetnunc was a starting point for many of us as artists and collectors of NFT's, and represented a radical shift in perspectives on what might be possible for artists in the future.
I have been experimenting with multimedia for over 30 years, and in that time have seen many things come and go. There are few moments as pivotal to the creative arts as NFT's have been. They offer artists, musicians, filmmakers, and many more, a path towards independent expression, uncensored and unabashed.
Now there's a caveat to this, which I believe will generate many more conversations as we figure out this new medium, and that caveat is one of curation...
I knew coming into this a year ago that I would be minting works that were outside of my typical realm, or at least beyond what I was known for in the traditional sense. From my previous experience with new mediums, it seemed to me odds on that NFT's were going to be dismissed as fad, and I had experienced as much already in 2017 when trying to convince others of their potential.
My very first mint was titled 'nothing def'. 'nothing def' suspends the very definition of the word 'nothing' in outer space, in a virtual "absence of all magnitude or quality". Sure enough in the last year we've witnessed any number of reasons to dismiss NFT's as 'nothing', and yet he we are looking to their future...
I still haven't quite figured out what I'm doing here, but I have at least decided to draw a line under the last year and make a move again towards a more linear practice. With this in mind I've conjured the following experiment, a combination of resale rewards, burn rewards, and a final burn of all previously unsold editions of my works.
