Bug Council

The base image is a fractal created by finding the roots of the equation z^3 - 1 = 0. I enjoyed exploring such fractals in the '90s using the Newton-Raphson method. Alston Scott Householder's method of finding roots produces a variant that, when combined with a black and white color scheme, resembles three bugs facing each other. To enhance this effect, I used circle packing to give the bugs a three-dimensional shiny skin.
