Weaving? At a time when everyone in NFT is seemingly talking about the affinities that textile artist such as Anni Albers share with generative art , ourdigitalhomestead brings the actual physicality of weaving to a digital image.
‘Seeing the flowing river of color, I wanted to weave two of the pieces together with music sheets to make a single big piece before working on it. Also, as a symbolic union of our collaboration.'
It’s so exciting. To think of literally weaving our work together is a fantastic idea, pure ‘bricolage’ as described by Claude Levi-Strauss in its ‘swerving off the straight course…using means that are skewed’ in comparison to that of the conventional digital artist.
I’m reminded of wonderful Folk Art in all of ourdigitalhomesteads work and this is no exception, indeed its what I’d hoped they’d bring to the collaboration; the unconventional yet highly traditional techniques of digital manipulation, cut and paste, cutting with scissors and pasting with glue, taking photographs, printing and cutting then painting on that.
This really is an artwork of unity and inclusion. It’s a super successful merging of so many formats/genres/techniques that is utterly and exquisitely what Revolutionary Happiness is all about. I love how it reaches out beyond Digital Art.
‘The shapes of [labelsonhumans] flowing colors became the basis of a botanically inspired design, rooted in a woven river of color. [l.o.h] colors and thinking and my colors and thinking literally being woven together and growing into something new.’ OurDigitalHomestead.
