The brain controls what you think and feel, how you learn and remember, and the way you move. It also controls a lot of things you're barely aware of, like your heartbeat and food digestion.
Think of the brain as a central computer that controls all the functions of your body. The rest of the nervous system becomes a network or framework that sends messages back and forth between the brain and different parts of the body. It does this through the spinal cord, which runs down the back from the brain. It contains nerves inside, filaments that branch out to other organs and parts of the body.
