Block Train

Typography; pen&ink; pencil; digital manipulation 4700px x 7200px “Block Train,” stems from my love of typography and enjoyment of creating puns, play on words, and illustrating words and phrases. Originally an ink and pencil drawing it was scanned onto the computer and manipulated digitally and translated to vectors. Digital manipulation allowed freedom to experiment more easily with color, composition, and scale while starting physically added a hand quality to some letters and decorative elements. The stylization of the lettering and coloring itself was chosen to be reflective of the time in which the original song was written. This piece is an early experiment of mine into digital creation of typography and I hope to come to even more experimental and interesting effects in the future.
