"I went out for a walk the other night and suddenly, I heard an incredible noise. I looked up and wouldn't you know it, this galaxy in the heavens above had just exploded. I stood there in awe watching the cosmos completely disintegrate before me, a truly memorable night. I guess sometimes you're just in the right place at the right time."
To date this is my only creative work involving composite imagery, and it will likely be my last. It is a self-portrait standing on a red dune in the outback of Australia where I am backlit by a phenomenon known as the zodiacal light - post twilight sun light reflected by cometary space dust in the outer atmosphere. Above I have blended an in-camera zoomed exposure of the galactic core of the milky way to create an explosion effect.
