The most profound changes to our self happen slowly, underneath the surface of our awareness. They often catch us by surprise, even when there's a monumental conscious effort to create that change.
This also applies to negative pressures from our environment and culture; they also carve their mark on ourselves over time, slowly mutating our essence, layer by layer, covering our eyes to the truth and blinding us to one another. We slowly and unwillingly sacrifice a better version of ourselves. Thus, we must constantly remind ourselves to wake up and see the world clearly, without prejudice, and without preconceptions. To see it as clearly as we can.
