Bakunawa

Bakunawa was once a beautiful and proud goddess who lived in the sea. But the beauty of the moon eclipsed hers so she vowed to posses it. For her arrogance and greed, she was cursed to lose her beauty forever and transform into a gigantic, serpent-like being. In her monstrous form, Bakunawa is said to consume the moon and cause lunar eclipses.
