The banana went bad
Interesting to me how a banana ages on the counter, is firm and green initially, and slowly over time turns to yellow and begins to soften. There is a trade off in the texture and the sweetness or intensity of flavor. If eating a banana, yellow and firm has best combination of flavor and texture (to me). The texture can be off-putting once fully ripe and beyond, when it gets increasingly soft and squishy, and I prefer older bananas in the blender with some almond milk and enjoy the intense flavor but don't want to have the squishy feel in my mouth. It seems cruel to introduce metal blades and pulverize the banana for my pleasure. It seems the corollary is also true, as the banana ripens and changes from green to yellow to brown, it goes 'bad' both figuratively and literally... I was considering making banana bread the other day and I turned my back and the banana, perhaps sensing it's imminent demise, began yelling at me and hurling insulting epithets. Please don't judge me, dear reader, but I was not emotionally prepared to stand idly by and be berated by a fruit, botanically, a berry. I peeled his flesh away as he screamed, and I threw that little bastard in the blender and am not ashamed to say I consumed him entirely ! Know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it is transferred ! For one thing to live, something else must die, and I feel no guilt or remorse. Perhaps if he tried an approach that sought empathy and understanding, rather than criticism his life cycle might have been a bit longer. Remember this when dealing with people, you will attract more bees with honey than vinegar. But, of course you may have no interest in bees at all.
