A bottle of red wine and a single glass were sitting on the kitchen table of a small bachelor apartment, in the darkness of night. The dim light from outside shone through the window, giving off a faint glow that illuminated the solitary objects on the table. The red wine in the bottle was like a deep scarlet, beckoning to be opened and consumed. It had been sitting there for weeks, since the day its owner had moved into this small space all alone.
The glass was empty, but it wasn't always so - when it was filled with that delicious ruby liquid it told tales of loneliness and grief. As if it were an hourglass for time itself, every sip symbolized a minute going by in this man's life without companionship or love. This glass represented all the hardships he faced in his single life: from being unable to find someone special to share his life with, to having no one to talk to during those long nights when he felt so incredibly lonely.
But at least he had this bottle of wine; at least he could fill his glass up with something that made him forget - even if only temporarily - how isolated he felt as a young bachelor living on his own. So each night he would pour out another round, filling up his glass and hoping for something different than what he had before: some hope for companionship or even just somebody else who also felt alone like him. But until then, all he could do was wait, drink and hope that things would change one day soon; this bottle of red wine and single glass on his kitchen table were constant reminders that nobody said life as a single bachelor would be easy.
