Psilocybin, the compound found within magic mushrooms has been shown to increase the rate at which neural connections are formed in the brain, having positive effects on a person's mood, their ability to focus and communicate with increased empathy. Currently in most countries in the world this compound is illegal, and in the UK is a class A substance. This combined with the stigma surrounding magic mushrooms makes researching the compound extremely difficult. However, progress is being made and the stigma is slowly being removed. When viewed objectively, the research is overwhelmingly positive. It is clear that consumption of psilocybin in the right environment results in increased neuroplasticity and an altered state of consciousness, transforming our perceptions of the world around us. Some people have rated this experience as one of the most significant events in their life, and what can only be described as an awakening.
