Aurora Australis viewed from across a man made lake, near Twizel. This is Lake Ruataniwha and it was formed back in 1977-1981 as part of a hydroelectric project. Twizel was also created as part of this project as a temporary town, but it is still here to this day.
I am very lucky that I made it down to the lake in time, as this show only lasted for about 10 minutes. Also, to get the lake slightly calm during an aurora is amazing, because it normally gets quite breezy at this location.
