ATEM: Taken from a Germanic word meaning Breath, This short animated film is all about the breath of life, the winds of creation drifting through the cosmos from one form to the next. A surreal, dream-like vision - Mythological cosmic Birds birthed from a fiery explosion, as they spread their colossal wings the stars, galaxies, planets and landscapes are sewn in their wake. Vast universal cycles, macroscopic, microscopic, subatomic flow. Creation & destruction entwined in a poetic dance. The Breath of the Universe can be powerful and violent, or soft like a whisper...

This slice of my creative history is very dear to my heart, I became a new father at the time I made it so it conjures all kinds of memories for me. Planning began around autumn of 2007 and it was finished in early spring of 2008. (Encouraged along by a dedicated few, they know who they are) This animated short film also features a haunting and magical musical score by Oliver Emanuel.
