created for the ashes2ashes project, conceptualized by @kells aka Kelly Burns
i received ashes from @scorpiondagger who produced and burned a piece of art containing a lineage of ashes from other artists' burnt works.
ashes were scanned on a flatbed scanner and a digital collage was made from the scans.
paint was made from the ashes and used to paint on a print of the collage.
collage was then scanned again and made into a gif
a still image from the final piece was "sonified" in audacity to make the sound that accompanies the gif.
collage was burned.
burning was documented.
ashes2ashes: "artist makes a work. documents that work, sets that work on fire, documents that fire, sends ashes to an artist. artist makes a work incorporating ashes. sets that work on fire. repeat. repeat. repeat. till there’s too much time and space between the burning stars and all the lights go out." - Kelly Burns
