Ascension

Ascension was one of the last tracks to wrap up but had been kicking around for years in various forms. It started out as a super distorted bassline I had written on a newly acquired white P-Bass coupled with a woozy synth lead and a plodding beat. I worked to develop it into a meandering journey that would fit in with the rest of the tracks but it wasn’t until Zac came in and wrote the bass part for the middle section that the whole thing really came into focus. We jammed on this song forever and Dusty Brown — Zac’s cousin and a big influence of mine coming up in the Sacramento electronic music scene — pitched in to help make cuts and work out the final arrangement.
