Photographed on Fair Isle, Britain's remotest inhabited island, this is the second from my series inspired by the writings of TS Eliot on the subjects of time, perspective and humanity.
Having spent a week on Fair Isle, getting back to the mainland felt a bit like coming up for air. However, the distractions associated with everyday life were hard to ignore. Life on a remote island 1 mile wide and 3 miles long is not easy, but the limit on resources means the community have an appreciation and respect for their surroundings and a tolerance of others that too many of us lack.
We don't need to live on a remote island to have these attributes—just a step back now and again to think about this extraordinary world and our place within it. This image lends me that perspective whenever I look at it.
