Social structures have allowed us to economically prosper but there is a danger that we get lost in this collective, that we become cooperative consumers with standardised tastes and regular routines. The solution is not to break away and enter isolation, instead we must continue to live together but remind ourselves that we are individuals. We must be conscious of our own decisions and understand when we are being influenced by institutions. It is possible to embrace the benefits of the herd and remain independent.
