Teratoma (also formerly called "Wundergeschwulst" in German) are tumors that generate tissues that are very untypical for their location and which consist out of hair, teeth or skin cells.
This Neurography was generated with GANs, that had been trained on detail elements of the human body: eyes, mouths, hair or skin. These neural models are fed with input data that lies outside the spectrum of what they have been trained on. Nevertheless they transform and misinterpret that input to their best knowledge and with their repertoire of visual elements and features, creating uncanny and strange compositions confronting the viewer with a mixture of recognition and confusion.
A second process reinterprets the image further and transforms it into a 3-dimensional sculpture.
