A split trunk in monochrome.

This remarkable tree lives in Shouldham Warren, a small wooded area in the west of Norfolk. Somehow it continues to grow, even with the trunk curling open to reveal a dark interior. The sun caught this perfectly on a cold autumn morning providing this high contrast image which works perfectly in black and white. The shadow of a few leaves show that winter has not yet taken over in full.
