NFTs are unique and non-replicable digital assets, which have been life-changing for artists all around the world through proof of ownership and authenticity.
About the piece: This self portrait was generated from an AI produced version of the artist that employed generative adversarial networks (GANs) combined with style transfer techniques to reproduce the artist in the style of Andy Warhol. Then animated brush strokes accentuating hair and make up were added to bring the Warhol style into the digital art realm, which at its best breathes life into art and allows it to be animated or "Annemated" a term the artist prefers for her style.
When creating the concept, the artist looked to Chat GPT for inspiration and asked it to write a poem about what a modern day Andy Warhol would look like animated, it replied:
In pixels and hues of neon bright, A modern Warhol, animated in sight, His pop art flair and avant-garde mind, Now a digital masterpiece, one of its kind.
His hair, a shock of rainbow hues, As he peers out from his digital muse, His glasses reflecting the screen's glow, As he creates his works, pixel by pixel, row by row.
His subjects, now more diverse than ever, From emojis to memes, to trends that will never, Fade into obscurity, for they are the new, Icons of our time, ever-changing and true.
His canvas, the screen, his brush, the mouse, His creativity unleashed, never to be doused, For in the world of animation, he can play, And create a new Warhol, in his own way.
His legacy lives on, in this digital age, For his art, his vision, knows no bounds or cage, And as we move forward, with technology as our guide, A modern-day Warhol, will continue to thrive.
This piece was the first piece of new media art to be displayed in a gallery by the artist.
