I found the old roll of film in a dusty box in the theater I worked at. When no one was around, I would take it out and play it in the empty theater. Over time, exposure to the sun had reddened the film, corrupting it. Something to do with the chemicals I suppose.
I know it's odd, but when I watch this after closing, sometimes I don't feel alone. Staticky sounds scream over the loudspeakers, and their buzzing tone continues to reverberate throughout my head all day. I clean the floors and check tickets and the whole time all I can hear is the NOISE and all I can think is: when can I play the film again.
Tonight I will sit in the theater again and watch this. I know I'm wasting hours like this, I'm not sleeping, I'm watching it all night... but it doesn't really feel like much time passes at all. I know I should tell someone about this, but that's why I'm writing it here. That's enough, it says. I've done my duty. Now I'm free to watch forever.
