On August 4, 1983, a part of the army commanded by Commander Bukari Lingani and Captains Blaise Compaoré, Thomas Sankara and Henri Zongo revolted. The CSP is overthrown, and replaced by the National Council of the Revolution (CNR). The following year, on August 4, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the revolution, the country is renamed Burkina Faso (Country of men of integrity), a new national anthem and new flag are chosen; a new territorial division is also carried out, which originates 25 provinces and 121 departments.
