Between nautical and astronomical twilight, the aurora brightens over Turnagain Arm during late September in Alaska, carrying layers of symbolism in its liminal state.
Liminal, latin for 'limen,' is defined as an intermediate, in-between, or transitional state - one twilight transitioning into another, auroral activity ending on one side as it continually develops on the other.
For me, the symbolism also reflects my own journeys in the current - being back on the chase after a dormant period, getting reacquainted with long nights leading to early mornings, and having the freedom to chase once again after working up for a new vehicle I can count on.
And in my journey to stay sober, at 5 1/2 years now, there's the symbolism of light still overcoming a darkness that once consumed me.
