In 1929 Magritte painted a pipe and wrote below 'Ceci n'est pas une pipe' (this is not a pipe), because the painting is not the pipe (you can't stuff or smoke it – it has no utility), it's just a representation of the pipe - the map is not the territory.
In 2022 I made a drawing of a Bored Ape. And wrote below ‘Ceci n’est pas une Bored Ape’ (this is not a Bored Ape). A drawing of an NFT is not the NFT, but a representation of that NFT. It is not an NFT, it has no utility, it’s just a drawing.
But what happens if you make an NFT of a representation of an NFT...?
I added some utility as well to make it more interesting. If you buy this NFT you get a choice:
You can either keep this original black and white edition, or you get the right to color this black and white drawing and create your own version of this Non Bored Ape. And what’s more, you can then mint an edition of 10 of your version. But if you do so, you’ll need to burn the original black and white version.
Your choice. Let’s see what the future will tell us about this experiment!
